About Dan Sullivan

March 21st, 2007

Born in Waco, Texas, Dan Sullivan grew up and currently lives and works in Dallas, Texas. First of all, Dan would like to thank everyone who donates to Love Hope Strength.

Dan has had indirect dealings with cancer throughout the years; first when his close friend in the 8th grade who fought and lost his battle with Cancer and then with the loss of his grandfather in 1999.

More recently, Dan’s family went through an intense struggle when his Step Brother Phil was diagnosed with cancer in 2002. Phil fought a tough battle loosing a portion of his right hip, and then loosing his entire leg. After several surgeries and 2 years of fighting hard Phil lost his battle in 2004 at the age of 22.

In January 2007 Dan was diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC). ACC is a very rare type of cancer that, in Dan’s case, appears to be relatively non-aggressive. As fortune as Dan feels about the type of cancer he has, the reality of enduring 7 weeks of daily radiation therapy has proved to be emotionally and physically challenging. Dan is expecting a full recovery, but ACC has a high percentage rate of remanifesting itself over a 10 to 20 year period.

Dan also found out on July 7 that Dick Knox, a longtime family friend was diagnosed with cancer in his liver and pancreas. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Knox family and Dan will be making the trek in Dick’s honor and in support of his fight.

Dan has know Jim Chippendale for a while and is exited to have joined up with Love Hope Strength Foundation to help impact the lives of cancer patients and survivors. “Having seen so many suffer from cancer, I feel very fortunate, even with ACC, and I want to help impact others in a positive way. Love Hope Strength Foundation is an amazing platform for this.”

Thoughts are with you!!! You are way to stubborn to let this interfere with everything you have to do in this life! Prayers always, Jo T.

If Dan has not joined the Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Organization International online group of nearly 800 people world wide who share information about adenoid cystic carcinoma, I would urge him to join.

We are a nonprofit all volunteer organization.

Dan, You’re in the middle of a molecular mixup…a Universal opportunity to find the Key that resides somewhere in your Mind or Soul. This Key is a mere metaphor representing an inate strength, stoicism and solidarity with “Company C”. May you be enveloped with the Pure Love from Family and Friends but fortified with the passion of Patton as he conquered unseen enemies with a fierceness but unspoken joy for the sudden sunrise that baffles all those not in the know. In essence…YOU are a Sullivan and Sullivans survive with Style.
    your hermano,
    Lane

    Dan,

You may not remember me, but we have played golf twice — first at Ridgeview & second at Westridge, which is when you told each of us in the group what you had gone through. Ironically, I have been going through a battle since the end of June. Prognosis for me is good, attitude is strong and faith in God is forever. It is awesome what you are doing. Good luck with the rest of the trek! Best regards, Gregg.
