About Shannon Foley

March 5th, 2007

Shannon Foley was born and raised with 2 brothers and 2 sisters just outside Philadelphia, PA. In February, 2001, Shannon’s younger brother, Ryan, was diagnosed with testicular cancer at the age of 23. Later that same year she lost her grandfather to cancer. Ryan was selected to speak on behalf of the 35 grandchildren at his funeral. It was at that moment Shannon saw the unwavering strength of her brother. Thanks to 2 aggressive surgeries and chemotherapy, Ryan has successfully beaten cancer, received his MBA and is living in Houston, TX (way too far from his sister!).

Shannon is currently the Executive Director of Love Hope Strength. Prior to joining LHS, Shannon was General Manager of Denver’s Jet Hotel, Manager of Marketing, Events and Corporate Sales for Public House Ltd and Director of Brand Identity for the accounting firm, Grant Thornton. In 2002, Shannon moved to Kenya for an independent brand development project with Tradition Safaris for whom she also currently works with as a safari consultant. Shannon received her BS in Marketing from Boston College. She currently resides in Denver, CO with her youngest sister.

    Hi Shannon -

This sounds like an absolutely amazing experience.. I am jealous! I lost my dad to pancreatic cancer nearly 12 years ago and his sister (my aunt) the year before that … glad to help as best I can.

My mom is just about to finish her last round of preventative chemotherapy.
She was diagnosed in Oct. and after chemo and surgery to remove the tumor
she’s on her way to recovery. This trip sounds amazing and I wish was going
to be there to photograph it! See you in May!

It’s been awhile. Does your sister live with you? If so ask her to call Fran Spause (610)585-9869, email doesn’t work.

Finally got to meet you at the Terra Blues Post-Party. You’re so fab! Thanks for taking the time to call me back during your very busy, very rainy “Empire State” trip and taking care of me. You do rock, indeed! I never got to buy you that drink, so if you come back to NY, I definitely owe you one (or two). By the way, I did get to say hello to both Mike and Dave W. at the end of the show and they were both so nice and gracious (as usual) and it felt good that they both remembered me.

Seems to me that the charity event was a huge success. I will have to go to Nepal now, since my other favorite guy, Mr. Glenn Tilbrook has signed on… Hmmm, have to figure how can I swing that one… Who knows?

Take care, and it was great to meet you.

PS. By the way, on a personal note, the Love, Hope & Strength Foundation touches a personal note with me as my mom battled breast cancer on two separate occasions. Thankfully she’s still with us today (but not without the battle scars to prove it.) She’s living proof that having a positive attitude can help you survive.

Anyone from Grant Thornton (albeit that you left GT some time ago) deserves a donation for this wonderful cause. Good luck with the trek and make sure Matt and Kris make it!

Anybody who hails from Flourtown / Lafayette Hill and is involved in LHS is a hero of mine. Good luck in your training. Have a blast on “the hill”. Next time you visit your parents…you better stop by!!!
