Cy Curnin’s Blog

The Fixx is a British new wave band formed in 1980. The group was formed by college friends Cy Curnin (vocals) and Adam Woods (drums). The pair placed an ad for additional members. Jamie West-Oram (guitar), Rupert Greenall (keyboards) and Charlie Barret (bass) joined the band as a result. Barret left after the first album and was replaced by Dan K. Brown, who remained with the band until 1994.
They are perhaps best remembered for their song “One Thing Leads To Another”, from their most successful album Reach the Beach from 1983. Their other hits are “Red Skies”, “Stand or Fall”, “Saved by Zero”, “Sign of Fire”, “Are We Ourselves?”, “Secret Separation”, “Driven Out”, “How Much Is Enough?” and “Deeper and Deeper” which was featured on the soundtrack of Streets of Fire. “A Letter to Both Sides” appears on the Fletch soundtrack.
The Fixx regularly tour the U.S., and recently celebrated 25 years of making music together. Curnin, West-Oram, Greenall and Woods are now joined by bassist Gary Tibbs (formerly Roxy Music, The Vibrators, Adam & The Ants). Cy Curnin can often be found on stage with a glass of wine in his right hand and an egg shaker in the left.

sometimes you find that doing something outside the box expands your mind set!
I want to thank Mike Peters and co for inspiring me to get off my lazy ass and help this wonderful cause. In the end it’s all about the money… how many fat bonuses will be paid out this year. How about sponsoring LOVEHOPESTRENGTH and feel better about the world in an instant.

:smile:So glad to see you and Jamie are taking part in this worthy cause! You have many songs that are so apropos to this event. There are many proud supporters of The Fixx that are with you in thought and spirit! Keep the spirit alive when you get to Mount Everest!
P.S. - you have a few people that were trying to send donations for Mount Everest but could not figure it out, so they sent them to me since I am doing the Rock On Walkathon event on the 15th of September! Hope to see you for a Fall Tour! - Sherri (aka Rockerchic from New Jersey)

WOW! This is awesome ~~ Thank you Cy and Jamie! I’ve been waiting for the FIXX to do something like this for a long time. This is what your music does for me . . . inspires me to want to make a difference in the world. I love you guys and listen to your music almost every day. I just delivered a meal tonight to a cancer patient . . . a young mother with 3 small children. So, what a joy to see the Fixx helping is such a big way too. Love YOU!

Cy, glad to see that you are involved in this project. Maybe this will help kick start a movement lead by artists like yourself to inspire people to live “outside” themselves and think of the Other. Acts of kindness, of any size, are in short supply these days. Be well. Be strong. Give life.

Great job, and so proud of you guys for doing this! I have not been a fan for the past 25 years for nothing, I always knew you guys were the tops and the top of the world was only a destination.

Also, LHS is a great project, and I hope many people can read up on this and learn to donate of themselves more instead of always taking taking taking.

I can’t wait to hear what songs you will sing for us.

We’re just about to empty the tin Cy, it fell off the hook on the shelf (the one below the wine gums lol). The children who buy their sweets at our shop have all donated their pennies and loose change over the last month and all have been fascinated to learn about the treck and the reasons behind it. We’re not counting the cash yet as the collecting tin is going back up and will remain until the treck is over.

On behalf of the children who buy their sweets at our shop, (all of whom have put their change in the pot over the last month), we’ve just sent the proceeds $45.00 via Paypal. Each of the children took time to read about Love Hope Strength and the reasons behind it. So on behalf of, Aaron, Cody, Corrie, Anna, Louise, Sandra, Emma, David, Christopher, Dean, Iestyn, Drew, Marcus, Ellen, Erin, Stephanie, and any others who I’ve forgotten, well done, you’re all inspirational and captured the minds of many young people here in Wales who followed the Trek and my computer in the shop each day.
